If I couldn’t write poetry
I’d be a girl without a mouth
a mind without a voice
I wouldn’t be able to express
the hidden truths of the heart
those emotions that we dare not speak of
unable to echo the voices
that are hidden within the soul
when it is impossible to be silent
it is poetry that gives
my mind
a voice
and my heart
an open door
